Après avoir pagayé autour de l’Ile de Rab, nous voici à Venise !
Le départ, se fait depuis un ponton à kayak, juste à côté du parking, c’est parfait. La couleur de l’eau de la lagune change par rapport à la Croatie… Nous arrivons assez vite au canal qui contourne Venise : pas facile à traverser avec tous ces bateaux à moteur… Ça se passe bien quand même. Dès que nous le pouvons, nous nous engouffrons dans une petite ruelle calme. Nous nous apercevons vite que les intersections vont être délicates à négocier… Et que dire lorsque nous croisons le Grand Canal ?! Vite, on retrouve une rue calme. Repas pris au sommet de marches d’escalier (boulgour aux maquereaux curry/amandes et pomme). On repart vers la place Saint-Marc que l’on ne peut pas approcher par la mer… Tout autour, les gondoles se suivent à la file indienne, avec deux kayaks bleus intercalés entre ! Nous prenons ensuite le chemin du retour, retraversons le canal extérieur puis la lagune. A notre arrivée dans le petit port, un groupe d’une quinzaine d’Allemands se préparent pour un trip de quatre jours en kayak dans Venise. Ils nous aident à sortir nos kayaks de l’eau et on discute un peu. Il est temps pour nous de tout ranger et de partir vers le lac de Garde, le plus grand lac italien. Avant cela, on fait une pause pour acheter des biscuits italiens (que Jean mangera dans la voiture…) !
Conclusion : Venise en kayak, ça permet de voir des choses qu’on ne voit pas à pied, de ne pas voir des choses que l’on voit à pied, et de se faire les bras en slalomant entre les gondoles !

After having paddled around the Island of Rab, we are in Venice!
The departure is from a pontoon special kayak, right next to the parking, it is perfect. The color of the lagoon water is not the same as in Croatia… We quickly reach the channel that bypasses Venice: it is not easy to go through with all these motorboats… It is going well anyway. As son as we can, we take us in a small quiet alley. We quickly realize thaht intersections will be difficult to negociate… And what about when we cross the Big Channel?! Soon, we find a quiet street. Meal is taken at the top of steps (bulgur with mackerel curry/almond and apple). We are back to the San Marco Square that cannot be approached by the sea… All around, the gondolas go in single file, with two blue kayaks intercalated between! Then we take the way back, cross again the channel and the lagoon. We arrive in the small port where a dozen of Germans are preparing them for a kayak trip during four days in Venice. They help us to get out our kayaks from the water and we talk a bit. It is time for us to store evry thing and to go to Garda Lake, the largest Italian lake. Before that, we take a break to buy Italian biscuits (thaht Jean will eat in the car…)!
Conclusion: Venice by kayak, we can see things we cannot see on foot, not to see things we can see on foot, but we need power to slalom between gondolas!
