Suite à l’Ile de Rab et à Venise, nous sommes arrivés la veille dans un camping au bord du lac de Garde pour deux nuits.
La nuit a été bonne avec une grasse matinée en prime (debout à 8h15). Nous nous mettons à l’eau vers 9h30 pour faire le tour de la pointe de Sirmione. Le principal objectif est de rincer les kayaks qui sont bien salés ! On pagaie du camping au château de Sirmione, puis du château à la Grotte di Catullo. Puis, en passant le cap, avec peu de fond, on décide de rincer les kayaks, ça rafraîchi. Après avoir passé quelques instants à frotter les kayaks, on se rend compte qu’il y a plein de sangsues dans l’eau… Vite, vite, on remonte à bord, on chasse les sangsues clandestines et on poursuit notre route en passant devant les thermes, de superbes villas et de grands hôtels. On s’arrête sur un plage à Desenzano del Garda pour manger (lentilles aux oignons et nouilles chinoises et biscuits italiens). On repart ensuite en sens inverse. Arrivé au point de départ, on rince de nouveau tout le matériel. Retour au camping pour se reposer, décider de la suite du voyage et profiter du temps. Restaurant italien face à la mer : pizza (incontournable en Italie !), tiramisu et fondant au chocolat !
Le lendemain, on quitte Sirmione en voiture pour aller se mettre à l’eau à Salo. On pagaie en direction de l’île de Garde. Les rives sont très jolies (on retiendra une maison au style moderne ayant un escalier qui monte nulle part…). L’île, dont on fait le tour, est magnifique. Le palais est bien conservé et d’un beau style. Pique nique sur une plage au retour (sardines au poivre, fuseau lorrain et biscuits italiens). Compétition de lancers de cailloux que Florine a gagné. Retour au point de départ après cette très jolie sortie ! Direction le lac de Côme et plus précisément le petit camping de Menaggio. Pour y arriver, nous longeons la côte Est du lac de Côme qui nous parait beaucoup plus sauvage avec son ambiance digne des fjords scandinaves.

After the Island of Rab and Venice, we arrived in a camp site on the edge of Garda Lake for two nights.
The night was good with a lie-in (get up at 8:15). We are in water around 9:30 to go around the tip of Sirmione. The main objective is to rinse the kayaks that are very salty! We paddle from the campsite to the castle of Sirmione, and to the Cave di Catullo. Then, passing the cape, with just a little bit of water under us, we decide to rinse the kayaks, it is refreshing. After spending a few moments to rub the kayaks, we realize that there are a lot of leeches in the water… Go, go, back on board, we hunt clandestine leeches and we continue our road passing in front of the spa, beautiful villas and big hotels. We stop on a beach in Desenzano del Garda to eat (lentils with onions and Chinese noodles and Italian biscuits). Then we go back in the opposite direction. Arrived to the starting point, we rinse again everything. Back to the campsite to rest, decide on the rest of the trip and enjoy the day. Italien restaurant just close to the sea: pizza (essential in Italy!), tiramisu and fondant chocolate cake!
The next day, we left Sirmione to get water to Salo. We paddle toward the island of Garda. Banks are nice (included a modern style house with stairs that go nowhere…). The island is beautiful. The palace is well-preserved and in a beautiful style. Picnic on a beach (sardines with pepper, sausage and Italian biscuits). Competition by throwing stones that Florine won. Back to the starting point after this nice day! Direction Como Lake and specifically the small campsite of Menaggio. To get there, we follow the East coast of Como Lake which seems wild with its Scandinavian fjords atmosphere.
